The Voice Enters the Metaverse: Become a Coach in Groundbreaking Virtual Reality Game

Fans of the hit series “The Voice” can now immerse themselves in a groundbreaking metaverse experience that blends the excitement of the show with the world of virtual reality.

On May 8, The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming platform, announced a collaboration with Virtual Brand Group (VBG) and ITV Studios—the producers behind “The Voice”—to introduce “The Voice Coach Battle.”

This new virtual experience invites fans to step into the shoes of a celebrity coach. Participants sit in the iconic red chairs, press the big red button, and guide up-and-coming talent, much like the real-life coaches on the show. The virtual game evolves based on the decisions made by players, mirroring the dynamic nature of the actual competition.

Moreover, this metaverse version of “The Voice” enhances fan engagement by integrating with the 25th season of the show on NBC. Fans can earn non-fungible tokens (NFTs) each week by accurately predicting the progress of contestants through the competition rounds and eventually, the winner. These NFTs not only serve as digital collectibles but also offer fans the chance to win tickets to live recordings of the show in various countries, effectively connecting the digital and physical realms.

In a discussion with Cointelegraph, Justin Hochberg, CEO of Virtual Brand Group, described this venture as a significant step in the evolution of television. He highlighted the importance of social gaming platforms in reaching younger demographics and extending the lifespan of television formats on a global scale.

Hochberg emphasized that metaverse and Web3 social games are perfectly suited to the media consumption habits of a generation raised on social media and the creator economy, allowing viewers not just to watch but to participate and even contribute to their favorite shows actively.

He predicts that within the next two years, all major global television series will start offering similar real-time, interactive, gamified experiences seamlessly integrated with live broadcasts.
